Joining Baglio San Michele is not simply a real estate purchase. It is a life choice that requires time, mutual understanding, and a deep alignment of values. For this reason, we have structured a clear and gradual admission process, designed to allow both parties to evaluate with seriousness and respect the possibility of walking together.
The process is reciprocal: not only does the Baglio evaluate candidates, but those who wish to join also have the opportunity to get to know the place, the people, and the lifestyle before making a final decision.
Two destinations, one same path
The admission process is the same for everyone. The housing destination, however, depends on one's season of life:
- •Families — live in autonomous apartments, with their own privacy and, where possible, a small vegetable garden.
- •Young singles in formation — live in sober cells and share generous common spaces (kitchen, refectory, laundry, sauna, gym, study rooms).
Both sections are part of the same community, under the responsibility of the Chapter of the Savi.
A note on the singles section. The singles section is currently reserved for young men. The ways of growing and of forming character are not the same for men and women: a male environment of work and brotherhood allows one to be formed freely and serenely. When well-motivated requests from young women arrive, we will consider opening a parallel women's section.
Why a selection process exists
The Baglio is not a residential complex open to anyone with the economic means. It is an intentional community founded on shared values: the Christian tradition, the stable family, serious work, the refusal of speculation and of the throwaway culture.
A non-selective admission would rapidly destroy what we are building. This is why every application is examined carefully by the founding group and, in due course, by the Chapter of the Savi.
The stages of the admission process

Application
The process begins with the submission of an application through the form available on the website. Candidates are asked to fill it out carefully, attaching a motivation letter and, if possible, a short curriculum or description of their skills and family composition.

Introductory Interview
Selected candidates are invited to an interview (in person or online) with one or more members of the founding group. This meeting serves to get to know each other, explore motivations, clarify doubts, and verify alignment with the principles of the project.

Residential Visit
After the interview, candidates are invited to spend a few days at the Baglio. This moment is fundamental to directly experience the atmosphere of the place, meet other residents (when present), and get a concrete idea of community life and the territory. It is also possible to go deeper through a period of stay.

Trial Period and Formal Admission
In case of mutual interest, a trial period of variable duration (generally a few months) follows. During this phase the family or the young single lives stably at the Baglio, taking part in community life and contributing, according to their possibilities, to the activities of the place. At the end, if both parties confirm their willingness to continue, the formal admission agreement is signed.
The principles of our process
Reciprocity
The Baglio evaluates candidates just as candidates evaluate the Baglio. Both parties must feel free and motivated to walk together.
Transparency
We strive to be as clear as possible from the beginning about the principles, rules, and expectations of the project.
Graduality
The process is structured in progressive stages precisely to allow everyone to make a conscious and serene decision.
Respect for Time
There are no forced deadlines. We believe that such an important choice deserves the time necessary to be carefully considered.
What we look for in those who wish to join
- •Alignment with the founding values of the project (traditional Christianity, family, work, anti-speculation)
- •Willingness to live in an intentional community, with its rhythms and its rules
- •The ability to contribute concretely (work, skills, presence)
- •Family and personal stability
- •Respect for the spiritual dimension of the place, including for those who are not practising

A note for those who wish to invest without residing
It is possible to support the project without becoming part of the residential community, through the ethical investment formula. In this case the path is different and more streamlined. For further information see the Ethical investment page.
